A new species Xanthopimpla zherikhini sp. nov. (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) is described from Late Eocene Baltic amber. The finding indicates a wider than in modern times geographical distribution of the recent genus Xanthopimpla in the territories corresponding to the modern Palaearctic zoogeographic region. Extremely large size of the specimen gives grounds for its consideration as an atypical taphonomic phenomenon for amber. The described specimen is the first find of the genus Xanthopimpla in Baltic amber.
