A bstract World Health Organisation (WHO) established a Collaborating Centre for the Histological Classification of Odontogenic Tumours and Allied Lesions (including Jaw Cysts) under the supervision of Jens Pindborg in 1966. To date, five revisions have been done in this classification. The current article discusses the changes made in 4th edition made in the year 2017. These include changing the nomenclature for some entities, revising the diagnostic criteria or subtypes, removing some entities, adding new entities, and reorganizing entities using the hierarchical system used throughout the WHO classification of tumours of all organ systems in the fifth edition. This commentary discusses the changes done in the current classification (2022) and its limitations.
