Abstract Transglutaminase 2 (TG2) promotes skeletal muscle hypertrophy as a myokine. The expression levels of Tg2 mRNA increased with endurance exercise and were positively correlated with the expression level of Pgc-1α4 mRNA. PGC-1α4 increased Tg2 mRNA expression in cooperation with ATF6α. These findings suggest that the expression level of Tg2 mRNA increases during endurance exercise via ATF-6α and PGC-1α4.
