The historical and legal periodization of international military cooperation in international legal science plays an important role in modern military-political realities. However, a comprehensive study of this topic in the domestic science of international law is currently not presented, which is due to the lack of a common approach to understanding the organization of international military cooperation of the domestic state and its historical and legal path. The problem of the lack of historical and legal periodization of the organization of international military cooperation of the domestic state determines the timeliness and relevance of this study in science and practice, in order to improve approaches to international cooperation of Russia and legal support of such. The purpose of this study is to develop and substantiate the author's historical and legal periodization of the organization of international military cooperation of the domestic state. To achieve this goal, the following tasks have been set and solved: a) to highlight the historical stages of the formation and evolution of international military cooperation of the domestic state; b) note the specific features of the organization of international military cooperation at different historical stages of its development; c) to study the peculiarities of the state of international military cooperation of the domestic state in a particular historical period of existence and to identify the prospects for its development at the present stage. To understand the essential characteristics of the periodization of the development of international military cooperation in Russia, systematic, comparative legal and comprehensive approaches were used, as well as the analytical method, synthesis method, structural, functional, comparative legal, historical and legal methods, including the periodization method, genetic, evolutionary and prognostic methods. Results and conclusions of the study. When studying the formation and development of international military cooperation of the domestic state, changes are revealed that characterized each allocated stage. Based on the results of this study, it is proposed to periodize the formation and development of international military cooperation between the domestic state and the unit for the following historical stages (periods): Early period (8381549); Ambassadorial period (15491698); Representative period (16981917); Transition period (19171941); Military period (19411945); Post-war period (19451951); Legitimized period (19511992); Modern period (1992 – present).
