Cultural heritage protection faces many challenges, and it is of great significance to realize digital protection with the help of modern information technology. This article focuses on the VR (Virtual Reality) cloud platform architecture and data visualization technology for cultural heritage protection. By setting up an experimental environment, this article selects various types of cultural heritage data such as ancient buildings and cultural relics, and verifies them by using GIS visualization, chart visualization and other algorithm models such as SIFT, SVM, K-means clustering and ARIMA. The results show that 92% users think that the relationship with the surrounding environment can be clearly presented in the GIS visualization of ancient buildings, and the recognition of histogram in the graphic visualization reaches 85%. The feature extraction accuracy of SIFT algorithm is 90%, which is higher than 75% of the traditional algorithm, and the SVM classification accuracy is 88%. The contour coefficient of K-means clustering algorithm reaches 0.75, and the average prediction error of ARIMA model is controlled within 10%. The research shows that the designed platform architecture, data visualization technology and algorithm model have high feasibility and effectiveness in the field of cultural heritage protection, which provides strong support for digital protection of cultural heritage.
