The paper examines the high environmental efficiency of renovating used technical products, which allows for a significant reduction in the consumption of natural resources and a decrease in environmental stress on the planet. Annually, over 10% of complex technical products are withdrawn from circulation worldwide after their service life due to wear of parts, amounting to no more than 0.1 - 0.5% of their weight, while the inner layers of the material in most products retain their original properties. Consequently, less than 1% of the resources invested in their creation is actually used, and the environmental pollution from their manufacturing is 100-150 times greater than the products own weight. By removing the outer, defective material layer and applying a new one, then machining it to nominal specifications, the item is ready for use again. Renovating used products instead of manufacturing identical new ones leads to saving over 95% of all resources initially invested, a tenfold reduction in environmental pollution at minimal cost, and a reduction in the overall exploitation of non- renewable natural resources. However, this crucial scientific and technical direction for the ecologization of the technosphere is currently receiving no attention from industrial, consumer, governmental, scientific, or educational sectors.
