Purpose: This study presents a RAM-C-based alternative analysis of a mortar system considering a unit-level maintenance environment to improve operational availability through redundancy design of components with high downtime (DT) contribution. Methods: Critical components were identified based on MTBF and downtime contribution and evaluated using the RAM-C analysis tool (LCSC Suite). Results: Alternatives for the two selected components were compared with the baseline system. Among them, Alt-3 showed the best reliability-cost trade-off in terms of operational availability, mission-related downtime, and O&S cost. Conclusion: The proposed approach provides a quantitative framework for reliability-oriented design decisions in military maintenance environments.
