AI has become an unavoidable feature of life in the modern world, bringing with it new possibilities in human interaction through ever expanding interfaces. However, up until now, there seems to have been little discussion on the possible detrimental effects that an over-reliance on AI may potentially bring about in learning and language education in particular. While AI may enhance second language learning in the short term, an over-reliance on this technology may be detrimental to language development and cognitive function over time.
