ABSTRACT: This paper aims to analyse the documentation for the ‘Association for the Support of Committees Fighting Repression in Morocco’ and highlight its value as a historical source. Located in the Bibliothèque de documentation internationale contemporaine (La Contemporaine) at the Université de Paris-Nanterre in France, the documentation covers the period from 1969 to 1992. It includes various documents produced, obtained and received by the different committees that formed this association in European countries, which sought to support victims of political violence during King Hassan II’s reign (1961–1999). The Committees’ mission was to raise awareness internationally, particularly in democratic countries, of the repression exerted by the Moroccan regime against any internal opposition or dissent, as well as of the deplorable conditions in which political prisoners were held at the time. To this end, the Committees gathered a significant amount of heterogeneous information which I intend to firstly describe and categorise and secondly evaluate as a source for the study of Moroccan contemporary history in general, and of Moroccan women’s political activism in particular.
