Abstract: Cognitive Science is the multidisciplinary and scientific study of the mind, brain and behaviour, communicating fields like psychology, neuroscience, computer science, philosophy, linguistics etc. It focuses how human brain process information collecting data from sensory registers. It is aiming to understand cognitive processes such as perception, memory, reasoning and language. The Upanishads offers a profound insight into consciousness; this ancient text explore the nature Of the Self (Atman), the process of perception and the role of the mind (Manas) in giving reality to human life. The Upanishadic perspective provides a framework for understanding cognitive processes not just as brain function, but as manifestation of a deeper conscious reality. Cognitive science utilizes objectivity and on the other hand the Upanishads rely on subjectivity. So, both are not only complementary but also a part and parcel of our modern life. This article sheds light on how cognitive science can be explained in view of the Upanishads and modern psychology.
