Data privacy and data security are areas in risk management that small businesses must plan for in the ever-increasing technologically driven business environment. This paper explores the existing landscape of data privacy concerns, identity theft issues facing businesses, and changing data privacy legislation. Furthermore, recommendations and solutions related to a data privacy audit are discussed to ensure businesses are prepared to comply with legislation and mitigate risk.
