The article discusses the technology of five-axis milling, which is used for processing geometrically complex surfaces. The milling width is considered as the main technological parameter of the process and its relationship with the maximum allowable processing error is determined. Calculating the value of the working width from the permissible error and the position of the tool in the coordinate system will simplify the process of assigning cutting modes and the algorithm for calculating the optimal trajectory of the milling cutter during cutting.
