The paper examines the possibility of predicting radio wave refraction to consider it in meteorological radar observations and presents the results of analytical modeling of the radar beam shape and an analysis of the influence of air humidity characteristics on errors in determining target coordinates. The horizontal and vertical correlation intervals of refractive index are analyzed to assess the possibility of its extrapolation. A method for predicting radio wave refraction in the lower tropospheric layer is substantiated.
