Different types of physical incidents occur on the earth's surface, like floods, droughts, earthquakes, cyclones, climate-related phenomena, etc. People can observe these incidents, but some occur without visibility, while others are semi-visible. That changes the environment gradually but cannot be observed. A very recent example of this incident is climate change, and another is the change in society. This was a major phenomenon that occurred continuously around the world. It even includes land use and land cover pattern change and regional microclimatic transformation. This incident occurs without any technological support and remains uncontrollable. This study emphasised the changing situation of Sundarbans and Kolkata along with the surrounding urban area. The paper has been developed based on GIS and tries to identify the causes and magnitude of spatial changes in the aforementioned areas. The aim is to identify and apply geospatial technologies for sustainable planning.
