Since the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) was elevated to a national strategy, regional coordination has been continuously strengthened, and the region has consistently played a "ballast stone" role in stabilizing the national economic growth. The software industry is a key focus of the YRD's coordinated regional development. Three provinces and one city have promoted industrial collaboration through measures such as optimizing top-level design, strengthening division of labor and cooperation, and jointly building platforms and carriers, leading to continuous breakthroughs in the development of the regional software industry. This paper systematically reviews the advanced practices in promoting software industry collaboration in the YRD region, summarizes the experiences and practices in constructing a collaborative mechanism encompassing "government, industry, academia, research, application". Meanwhile, regarding the challenges in the collaborative development of the software industry in the YRD region, there exist issues such as the absence of systematic top-level design centered on the software domain, the inadequacy of a structured mechanism for collaborative technological innovation, and the need for further enhancement of the supply-demand linkage and collaboration mechanism. It also proposes targeted development suggestions. The research aims to promote the construction of a more competitive software industry ecosystem in the YRD region, make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the national software industry, meanwhile, provide experience for other urban agglomerations in China, and facilitate the in-depth promotion of China's regional coordinated development strategy.
