ABSTRACT In this study, coffee husk residue was utilized as a bio‐admixture in the synthesis of alkali‐activated cement (AAC). The AAC was formulated using metakaolin as the solid precursor, coffee husk residue as the bio‐admixture, and a sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution as the alkaline activator. A comprehensive evaluation was conducted to investigate the physicomechanical performance, microstructural characteristics, and durability of the AAC specimens in both the fresh and hardened states. The incorporation of coffee husk residue resulted in a reduction in both flexural and compressive strength at 7 and 28 days, accompanied by an increase in water absorption. The addition of coffee husk residue reduced the final setting time by 53% and increased the heat released during the reaction by up to 30%, without changing the alkali‐activated compounds. This approach represents a first step toward creating a new pathway for recycling coffee husk residue.
