The co-occurrence of heat danger and ozone pollution amplifies risks to human health. Here, we present a protocol for quantifying heat danger using the Heat Index and identifying ozone pollution using maximum daily 8-h averages. We describe steps for applying predefined thresholds, data processing, and hotspot detection. We then detail procedures for synoptic analysis to identify dominant atmospheric drivers.
