Against the backdrop of deepening population aging, loneliness, and suicide risk among older adults have become increasingly prominent social concerns, while traditional intervention approaches remain insufficient in providing emotional support and facilitating meaning reconstruction. Grounded in the concept of science–art integration, this study examines the mechanisms through which such interventions influence loneliness and suicide risk among older adults. A structural model was constructed incorporating artistic participation, interaction intensity, immersive experience, psychological adaptation, sense of social belonging, sense of meaning in life, loneliness, and suicide risk, with the aim of elucidating the transmission pathways among multiple psychological variables. Using a questionnaire survey, 372 valid responses were obtained. Reliability and validity tests, exploratory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling were conducted for empirical analysis. The results indicate that artistic participation, interaction intensity, and immersive experience significantly enhance psychological adaptation, social belonging, and meaning in life. Psychological adaptation and social belonging significantly reduce loneliness, while meaning in life not only negatively predicts loneliness but also directly suppresses suicide risk. Loneliness, in turn, significantly and positively predicts suicide risk. The model demonstrates satisfactory fit indice, and the proposed chain mediation structure is supported. The findings suggest that science–art integration interventions mitigate loneliness and reduce suicide risk at a structural level by strengthening emotional regulation capacity and social connectedness while reconstructing a sense of meaning in life.
