The Birth of Romantic

*The Birth of Romantic* is a long-form composite text composed between 2022 and 2025, centered on the ship of Kazama Chikage and Yukimura Chizuru from the Japanese otome game *Hakuouki*. It assembles character analysis, literary criticism, original translation fragments, short fan fiction, and personal essays into a single multi-genre document. Its original ambition was to systematically argue how this relationship arises and naturally continues; across two years of recursive writing and self-critique, the author gradually abandons that rationalizing project itself — coming to understand love as fuzzy, fluid, contingent, and impossible to prove. The value of the text lies not in its arguments but in witnessing the evolution of a young fangirl's (同人女) modes of thought and of her view of love.
