The work was undertaken as a condition of planning consent to enable the extension of the extraction of raw material within the quarry. The investigation was undertaken in accordance with a Written Scheme of Investigation produced in response to advice given by Tom Fildes, acting as the archaeological planning advisor. The archaeological work was undertaken over 30 days between April and June 2024. The investigation revealed evidence of outlying occupational activity which is possibly prehistoric in date. Furthermore, it was established that the remains of two subcircular structures were present along with a ditch that continued into further phases of this project
