Purpose: This study aims to empirically analyze the effects of placeness—the concept applied to regenerated cafés utilizing idle industrial facilities—on place attachment and behavioral intention formed through visitors’ experiences. In addition, this study aims to identify the perceptual factors of place ne ss among visitors to regenerated cafés utilizing idle industrial facilities, and to analyze how these factors affect place attachment and behavioral intention through the mediating effect of experiential value.Research design, data, and methodology: A self-administered survey was conducted among consumers who had experience visiting regenerated cafés, using both online and offline methods over a three-week period from March 1 to March 21, 2025. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 statistical program. To test the hypotheses, regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were performed to examine the relationships among the variables.Results: The study identified the perceptual factors of place ne ss among visitors to regenerated cafés and examined the relationships between these factors and place attachment. The results indicated that the physical environment was the most important factor. Each factor was found to have significant effects on place attachment and positive behavioral intention, and experiential value was found to play a mediating role.Implications: This study demonstrates that the placeness of regenerated cafés in idle industrial facilities positively influences place attachment and behavioral intention. The se findings suggest that enhancing placeness and fostering place attachment can provide differentiated strategies to increase visitor satisfaction and loyalty. Moreover, transforming underutilized or abandoned spaces into symbolic landmarks can strengthen urban branding, elevate their role as local attractions, and generate broader economic impacts.
