Purpose: Smart libraries are being distributed and installed so that citizens can conveniently borrow or return books in their daily lives, but there are not many citizens who are aware of smart libraries or actively use them, so more efforts are needed to revitalize them.Research design, data, and methodology: This study used the innovation resistance model to identify the resistance factors of the use of smart libraries. To test the hypotheses, surveys from 276 respondents who are active participants in public libraries are analyzed by using SPSS.Results: This research results are as follows. First, cognitive burden does not directly affect consumer attitude and intention to use. Second, stickness to existing products and resistance to innovation have a negative effect on user intention through the mediation of user attitude. Third, consumer attitude has a mediating effect in the relationship between stickness to existing products and the intention to continue use, and consumer attitude have a mediating effect in the relationship between resistance to innovation and intention to continue use.Implications: If the awareness of the smart library is increased by providing various experience opportunities and the relative advantages are promoted to reduce users’ negative attitudes, it will reduce the resistance to use and have a positive effect on the intention of use. Furthermore, if the negative attitude of users is reduced by raising awareness of smart libraries by providing various experience opportunities and promoting their relative advantages, it will reduce the resistance to use and have a positive effect on the intention of use.
