Purpose: This study sought to find ways to strengthen competitiveness through revisions centered on easing amendment of Juridical Act, which is the basis for the operation of the consumer area fishery products wholesale markets, which is currently experiencing a continuous weakening of competitiveness due to abnormal transactions. Through this, it was intended to contribute to improving the fairness and safety of fishery transactions in the consumer area fishery products wholesale markets.Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, we first analyzed the results of major studies to examine the necessity of amendment of juridical act related to the fishery products wholesale markets. Next, we reviewed the areas in which amendment are needed in juridical act related to the consumer area fishery products wholesale markets, as analyzed through previous literature. Afterwards, we analyzed the importance of each major alternative based on AHP analysis targeting 10 experts related to fishery distribution.Results: The AHP analysis results showed that the most important part to be amendment of juridical act was ‘Deregulation of Fishery Products Wholesale Markets’, followed by ‘Strengthen the Transparency’ and ‘Establishing a differentiated foundation for each Fishery Products Wholesale Markets’. Among the second-tier items, ‘Intermediate Wholesaler Purchases Directly from the Production Site’ and deregulation for wholesale market corporations were shown to be important.Implications: According to the analysis results of this study, in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the current fishery products wholesale market, the amendment of juridical act for wholesale market distributors should be prioritized. Through this, the competitiveness of the government- managed fishery Products wholesale market should be strengthened to establish a efficient and rational distribution system.
