Organic photodiodes (OPDs) have much promise for future image‐sensing applications, which will be difficult to fulfill with conventional inorganic semiconductor‐based photodiodes. However, the structural disorder and the excitonic nature of organic semiconductors provide challenges for OPDs in terms of their performance metrics, like the junction thickness, speed of response, and the light‐dependent resistor that needs to be addressed for them to become fully commercial. In this article, we report the synthesis of a perylenediimide (PDI) nanoparticle (NP)‐based novel OPD that is specifically suitable for green light photodetection. The average particle size of PDI nanoparticles was found to be below 100 nm with calculated bandgap of 1.87 eV. An inverted structured green light photodetector in ambient atmosphere was fabricated to give photocurrent of 125 μA under 100 mW/cm 2 illumination. Thus, a novel PDI NP‐based stable and soluble material was used as nonfullerene acceptor for inverted structure photodetector that is easy to fabricate unlike inorganic photodetectors.
