Abstract In this study, the analytical eigensolutions of the 2-dimensional Schrödinger equation with Harmonic-like potential has been investigated, with the extended Nikiforov-Uvarov method. The solutions of energy spectra and wave function were employed to investigate the variations of thermodynamic, magnetic and transport properties of Gallium Arsenide quantum dots with temperature and magnetic field, for varying values of principal and magnetic quantum numbers, potential depth and potential range, respectively. The results revealed that the energy eigenvalues of the quantum dots system are influenced by the quantum numbers and potential parameters. The shift in energy eigenvalues were due to the particle collisions in the quantum dots system. The thermo-magneto-transport plots showed high dependency on the temperature and magnetic field for the potential parameters considered. Schottky anomaly was observed to exists at low temperature values and the quantum dots system studied obeyed paramagnetic-diamagnetic transition at unique values of the magnetic field. The potential depth and the potential range greatly influenced the results obtained, which agreed with occurrences in physical phenomenon, as recorded in literatures. Graphical abstract
