Agriculture worldwide is facing serious productivity concerns due to pollution, drought, global climate change, and ubiquitous pathogenesis. To target stress mitigation and agricultural sustainability, biotechnology can improve our understanding of the network of physiological, biochemical, and molecular plant responses to all possible interacting factors This review addressed the applications of biotechnology in agriculture for sustainable food security and income. The impact of biotechnology on food security, application of biotechnology in food and agriculture production, and increasing crop production, food processing and preservation, livestock, and animal husbandry were discussed. Issues related to the public’s perception and acceptance of biotechnology and the regulatory framework for biotechnology in agriculture were also addressed. A more resilient and food-secure world can be created by promoting sustainable agriculture, implementing social protection programs, and developing supportive policies. Investing in sustainable income and food security is an investment in our collective future.
