The article reveals the significance of Saur-Mogila as a place of remembrance of the events of the Great Patriotic War in Donbas and the armed conflict in the region since 2014. The authors study the dynamics and peculiarities of how the place of Saur-Mogila in the historical memory of the residents of Donbas has changed over the past 80 years in the context of peaceful post-war life, and what new significance Saur-Mogila has acquired in connection with the military operations in the summer of 2014. The authors of the article paid special attention to the memories of the participants of the events at Saur-Mogila in 1943 and 2014. Based on archival sources, interviews, and electronic resources, the authors draw conclusions about the new connotations and ideological and political meanings of Saur-Mogila that have been formed among the residents of the region and combat veterans.
