This paper describes the phonology of Wanyeu, a Tibeto-Burman language spoken in Northern Laos. Wanyeu is the autonym of Muchi, one of the subgroups of the Akha ethnic group. Nine Wanyeu villages are located in Samphan and Buntai Districts of Phongsaly Province. Wanyeu is a tone language with three tones: high, mid, and low. It has 11 modal vowels and 10 creaky vowels, and has 20 consonants, with a contrast between unaspirated and aspirated voiceless stops and affricates.
