Abstract

Globba schomburgkii, traditionally used as a medicinal and culinary plant, has not been comprehensively investigated for its chemical composition. In this study, essential oils from samples collected in Binh Chau (BC) and Con Dao (CD), Vietnam, were analyzed by GC-MS and chiral GC-MS, and their larvicidal potential was assessed against Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus following WHO guidelines. The essential oil BC was dominated by caryophyllene oxide (31.4%) and β-pinene (15.1%), whereas the essential oil (CD) represented a distinct chemotype rich in β-pinene (24.5%), (E)-β-caryophyllene (17.8%), and dill apiole (7.2%). Both chemotypes exhibited promising larvicidal activity, highlighting G. schomburgkii essential oil as a potential natural agent for mosquito control.
