Introduction Steatotic liver disease is increasingly prevalent, and individuals with steatotic liver disease and high Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index levels are at a higher risk of liver-related or non-liver-related mortality. Therefore, we investigated the factors associated with a high FIB-4 index (a surrogate marker of liver fibrosis) in patients with hepatic steatosis and progression to a high FIB-4 index with hepatic steatosis during 5 years of follow-up after undergoing health checkups.
