This work presents Curio, a multilingual chatbot designed to provide personalized career and stream guidance to Indian students in their native languages, including Hindi, Marathi, and English. The system integrates a rule-based expert system based on Holland’s RIASEC framework with a machine translation pipeline to enable scalable multilingual interaction. Curio aims to address the significant gap in accessible career counseling, particularly for non-English-speaking students in semi-urban and rural India. The system maps user interests to educational streams and career pathways within the Indian academic context, providing structured and interpretable recommendations. This paper describes the system architecture, methodology, and a proposed evaluation framework. A pilot study is planned to assess improvements in user clarity, decision-making confidence, and satisfaction. Note: This is a preprint version of the work and has not undergone peer review.
