ABSTRACT Plantar pressure monitoring is crucial for some disease diagnosis and optimization of athletic performance. This paper presents a wearable antenna sensor for plantar pressure detection. The sensor antenna features a unique circular and slotted design. The circular structure facilitates multidirectional radiation, while the slots alter the current path, reducing the antenna size. Double‐layer substrate is adopted, with the gap between the two layers filled with polyimide foam. When pressure is applied (e.g., by stepping), the distance between the ground plane and the radiation patch changes, causing a shift in the antenna's resonant frequency, which enables pressure detection. The measured sensitivity is 0.30 MHz/N. The experimental results demonstrate that the antenna sensor can be used for wireless monitoring of plantar pressure.
