A two-dimensional (2D) hybrid halide perovskite, C6H5(CH2)4NH32CuCl4 (4PBA-CuCl4, 4PBA = 4-phenylbutylamine), which exhibits excellent NPR, was prepared. The crystal structure was proved by single crystal X-ray diffraction at 294 K. Using density functional theory (DFT), we calculated the elastic constants with and without spin. Interestingly, the calculations results indicate that 2D 4PBA-CuCl4 exhibits a very large NPR (–0.40 and –0.47). Our research strongly demonstrates that 2D hybrid materials have great potential for research in the field of materials with negative Poisson’s ratios.
