This paper proposes a formal neurocybernetic model of depression as a specific failure mode of the Hero's Journey: dopaminergic arrest of the Basal Ganglia–Thalamus–Cortex loop. When the GO-pathway is chronically suppressed, the system cannot initiate the Call to Adventure — not because the call is absent, but because the gate is locked. We designate this state "Spiritual Parkinson": the hero is present, the journey is possible, but the first step cannot be taken. Clinical implications include reframing DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) as a cybernetic reset of the hero's threshold. Dedicated to Vera F. Birkenbihl on her 80th birthday.
