ABSTRACT Motivated by recent experiments, we investigate the superconducting transition in a generic particle–hole symmetric system comprising two flat bands and two dispersive parabolic bands separated by an energy gap. We show that the superconducting transition temperature is strongly affected by the magnitude of this gap. In particular, increases as the interband gap is reduced and exhibits a nontrivial dependence on other model parameters, including the interaction strength. These results indicate that systematic tuning of the model parameters can be used to optimize the critical temperature and to maximize the extent of the superconducting region accessible in experiments.
