Olefins serve as a crucial organic chemical feedstock in synthetic chemistry due to their extensive applications. With recent advancements in coal-to-olefins (CTO) technology, coal, a long-standing primary energy resource in China, has demonstrated considerable potential as an alternative raw material. This review aims to provide a systematic overview of CTO technologies, seeking to identify current research gaps and outline promising avenues for future investigation.
