The Pan‐European Climate Database (PECD) was established in 2013 by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO‐E) to support its power system adequacy studies. This paper presents the methodology for generating the photovoltaic (PV) timeseries in the latest release, PECDv4.2, codeveloped by ENTSO‐E and Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). A key contribution is the production of PV profiles segmented by typology (i.e., residential and industrial rooftops, utility‐scale fixed and with tracking), in contrast to the more generic approaches commonly found in the literature. Results, validated against data from the French and Italian TSOs, demonstrate how these profiles capture differences in yield and intra‐annual seasonality across typologies. The adoption of these new data by European TSOs further illustrates their practical relevance for grid planning and analysis.
