This paper explores pathological demand avoidance (PDA) in adulthood, focusing on late recognition and internalised behavioural patterns linked to ADHD and autism. Building on the Healing Threads child framework, it argues that these behaviours are coping mechanisms rather than fixed traits. It proposes that the same approaches used in childhood, reducing perceived threat, increasing autonomy, and supporting nervous system regulation, can also support change in adulthood through awareness and environment.
