Introduction: This study aims to explore the preventive effects of Phaseolus vulgaris on Triton-X induced hyperlipidemia in Wistar albino rats. Materials and Methods: Adult Wistar rats (150–180 g) were divided into five groups (n=6). Group I served as the normal control (saline), Group II received Triton X-100 (400 mg/kg), Group III was treated with fenofibrate (65 mg/kg), while Groups IV and V received P. vulgaris extract at 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg, respectively, for 7 days. Results: Administration of P. vulgaris significantly reduced triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL, and VLDL while elevating HDL levels. Oxidative stress markers revealed increased SOD and GSH activity and decreased MDA levels in treated groups. Histopathological analysis further confirmed hepatic protection with structural recovery of hepatocytes and sinusoids comparable to that of fenofibrate. Discussion: The findings suggest that P. vulgaris exerts antihyperlipidemic effects not only through lipid regulation but also via antioxidant mechanisms that mitigate Triton X-100-induced oxidative stress. Interestingly, the 250 mg/kg dose demonstrated better efficacy than the 500 mg/kg dose, indicating a possible dose-dependent pharmacodynamic profile. These results are in line with earlier studies on legumes demonstrating hypolipidemic and hepatoprotective properties, thus highlighting the potential of P. vulgaris as a natural therapeutic candidate for hyperlipidemia. conclusion: The current study found that Phaseolus vulgaris extract had a potential lipid-lowering impact on Triton-X induced hypercholesterolemic rats. Conclusion: Phaseolus vulgaris extract exhibits potent lipid-lowering and antioxidant activities comparable to fenofibrate, with the 250 mg/kg dose being more efficacious than 500 mg/kg. Its dual action makes it a promising natural agent in the prevention and management of hyperlipidemia.
