The recent publication of a new gene-based classification for the ichthyoses has drawn attention to naming anomalies in other conditions. An example is CHILD syndrome (Congenital Ichthyosiform Erythroderma with Limb Defects) without Limb Defects, as reported here. We suggest nomenclature in line with the system used for the ichthyoses. We also report successful pathogenesis-based treatment in a very young child.
