This study examines the role of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in enabling sustainable water management through digital transformation. Faced with increasing pressures from climate change, population growth, and resource mismanagement, water utilities require integrated and data-driven approaches to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. ERP systems provide a unified digital infrastructure that integrates core organizational functions, enhances data sharing, and supports realtime decision-making across water operations. The paper develops a conceptual and operational framework linking ERP architectures, data ecosystems, and business processes to sustainable water management outcomes. It highlights the importance of integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS), sensor networks, and data governance mechanisms to improve water allocation, demand forecasting, asset management, and regulatory reporting. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the role of digital transformation strategies, organizational change management, and maturity models in successful ERP implementation. Despite the benefits, several challenges persist, including data quality issues, system interoperability, cybersecurity risks, and ethical concerns related to equity and access. The paper also discusses performance evaluation metrics, cost-benefit analysis, and policy implications for achieving long-term sustainability. Ultimately, ERP-driven digital transformation is presented as a key enabler for improving operational efficiency, supporting informed decision-making, and advancing sustainable water resource management.
