The rising prevalence of metabolic syndrome in low- and middle-income countries is alarming. It is driven by a shift from traditional lifestyles to modern habits and stressful and sedentary office work due to globalisation-driven urbanisation. To address this public health issue, it’s essential to implement context-specific programs that promote healthier lifestyles. This study evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of nine-month educational interventions to reduce risk factors for metabolic syndrome among office workers in Ethiopia. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, collecting quantitative data from 109 participants and 3 intervention providers at the six-month point. Qualitative insights from 8 selected participants assessed the intervention’s feasibility and acceptability, guided by Proctor’s and Sekhon’s frameworks. The study found an average perceived feasibility score of 14.12 (SD = 2.53) out of 20. According to Proctor’s framework, the mean acceptability score was 17.45 (SD = 2.7) out of 20, while Sekhon’s framework reported a mean acceptability score of 54.35 out of 75. The main barriers included a lack of family support, unsupportive environments, and cultural factors. Conversely, clear instructions, effective learning strategies, personalised approaches, accessible materials, and enhanced self-efficacy were major facilitators that improved the intervention’s feasibility, acceptability, and implementability. The study indicates that healthy lifestyle education interventions are feasible and acceptable for office workers in Ethiopia, but unsupportive environments and cultural barriers affect implementability in Ethiopia. Addressing these challenges is crucial for future programs.
