A new study in Psychiatric Services found that an Austin–Travis County crisis response program was associated with fewer involuntary mental health detentions, fewer arrests and shorter police response times. Embedding behavioral health professionals in a 911 call center can provide important public health and public safety benefits, said researchers, based on their analysis of the approach.
