Future health industry is a core area of China’s future industrial development and also one of the key future industries prioritized in Jiangxi. Based on the current development status of the health industry, analyzing how to empower the development of the future health industry with artificial intelligence against the backdrop of national strategies and industrial goals will help localities identify clear paths and practical approaches for economic and social development. The research shows that Jiangxi boasts distinct advantages in the development of the health industry: it has a profound heritage of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and a solid foundation in the pharmaceutical industry, with a diverse range of business formats and prominent agglomeration effects in the future health industry. AI has been maturely applied in the industry through multi-scenario integration, and the province’s digital infrastructure ranks among the top in China. At present, the future health industry is trending toward in-depth technological integration and cross-border business model innovation, yet Jiangxi is confronted with challenges such as intensified regional competition, core technological barriers and inadequate industrial chain integration. Targeting the core problems of an unclear industrial development focus, imprecise empowerment approaches and insufficient support from innovative resources, Jiangxi should adhere to the health-first strategy and strengthen top-level design and policy guarantees; break down data silos to build a provincial health database; focus on key tracks such as AI + TCM to elevate the industrial chain development level; increase the tilt of scientific and technological innovation resources to strengthen support in terms of funding, computing power and industry-university-research collaboration; and optimize the overall industrial layout by enhancing regional coordination, talent cultivation and fostering a sound industrial ecosystem, thus driving the high-quality development of the future health industry empowered by artificial intelligence.
