The study aimed to investigate the influence of different gingival colors and abutment materials on the accuracy of intraoral implant scans. Five maxillary typodonts were used with 4 implants, 2 scan abutments (Mono scanbody-W and Metal scanbody-M) and 5 gingival colors (Light pink-GLP, Dark Pink-GDP, Orange-GOR, Brown-GBR, Purple-GP). Ten scans of each reference model were made with an intraoral scanner (Medit i700) and exported as STL files. Assessment of trueness and precision was conducted with Geomagic 3D analysis software and 3D differences were calculated using the root mean square (RMS) value. Data were statistically analyzed using 2-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni comparison tests (α = 0.05). Significant differences were found among the groups of different gingival colors and abutment materials (p<.05). Regarding trueness, gingival color significantly influenced the RMS values of the scan abutment group of W (p<.001). Significantly lower mean RMS value was obtained in the gingival color group of GDP with mono scanbody (p<.001). Regarding precision, gingival color significantly influenced the RMS values of both scan abutment groups (W and M) (p<.001). Significant difference was found between different abutment materials in the gingival color group of GLP (p<.05). The accuracy of intraoral implant scans was affected by variations in gingival color and abutment material.
