The SCCAS brief required a programme of linear trial trenching to sample the site as a part of the natural flood management project, comprising the installation of one new flood retention area, to counter the effects of climate change and flood risk to Debenham. This was to be achieved by excavating 42 trenches however due to onsite constraints, and with the agreement of SCCAS, only 36 30.00m x 1.80m trenches could be excavated. The site had a low to moderate potential for features and finds relating to the medieval period and post-medieval periods. The potential for features and finds from all other periods was low. The evaluation revealed several archaeological features across site, name boundary ditches, a majority of which are present on the 1837 Tithe Map and 1893 OS map. As a result, these features can be dated to the post medieval/modern period.
