I am a recent graduate of New York University's Moving Image Archiving and Preservation program. As I approached my last semester, I was writing my thesis, on disaster planning in audiovisual archives. I was receiving advice to create a resource or guide to accompany the research, and was hesitant to that at first, until I considered zines. The zine format has gained popularity recently, and has been used as a democratizing informational method to great effect. I talked about progress, what inspired me along the way, and shared a digital version of my zine as an editable template in Canva! I was also on hand to talk about how I decided to condense information, and where I pointed to other, broader resources on such an important topic.
