In spite of policies that emphasise inclusion, the Garo community in Assam continues to experience persistent exclusion in the political and socio-economic spheres. The study looks at how the Garos are marginalised due to their lack of representation in local government and their limited access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Geographical seclusion, governmental slowness, and cultural-linguistic barriers further exacerbate these issues. In this paper, the structural factors that contribute to the exclusion of the Garos were investigated using a qualitative approach that was based on secondary sources. Policy recommendations were proposed to improve their participation in political and socio-economic arenas, thereby contributing to the discourse on tribal rights and inclusive development in India.
