This study explores Hodongseorakgi (湖東西洛記), the travelogue authored by Kim Geum-won, a female writer of the Joseon Dynasty, to highlight her oft overlooked role in Korean literary history. As one of the few travelogues written by a woman and composed in Hanmun, the Hodongseorakgi occupies a significant place in the discourse on Korean women’s literature. Her travel enabled her to transcend spatial constraints, while her writing challenged communicative barriers.
