IP and related rights have repeatedly been the subject of scientific researchs. The relevance is due to the unprecedented economic and political pressure on the Russian Federation since 2022, which led to a massive withdrawal from the Russian market of foreign copyright holders, which created risks of non-fulfillment of obligations under previously concluded agreements, as well as difficulties in ensuring compliance with the rights of all participants in civil turnover: copyright holders, users and the state as a whole. The purpose of this research is to analyze models for implementing external management of IP rights of foreign legal entities within the framework of current Russian legislation, taking into account international practice. The subject of the study is the relevant legal frameworks for their implementation in Russian legislation. To achieve this goal, a review of existing practices was conducted using methods of analogy, analysis, comparison, and description. The research's novelty lies in its comprehensive approach to analyzing existing legal models and exploring the possibility of adapting them. As a result, the risks were identified and described, as well as the author's proposals were formulated, taking into account possible compensation and financing mechanisms. Implementation of the legislative improvement proposals developed based on the research findings will contribute to the creation of favorable conditions and effective mechanisms for ensuring the country's technological sovereignty and the stability of civil rights transactions in the face of non-compliance with the terms of relevant contracts. The results conclude that the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Rospatent to introduce a mechanism for external management of the IP rights of "departed" companies is a complex but necessary step in adapting the legal system to current economic realities. Russian legislation possesses the necessary "growth points" for the creation of such an institution.
